The Amalfi model was designed for musicians that look for a traditional sound, warm and full, combined with a great projection. Its short roll-over baffle, flowing into a medium-large chamber, provides the Amalfi model with a full, not excessively dark timbre. The window walls are flat, ensuring a greater projection and focus for the sound as well as an obviously easy emission. The not excessively large chamber helps have great control over the mouthpiece. The thick shank is made of brass and is the same as the one used for our metal mouthpieces, plated with 24-carat gold. The Amalfi model is recommended for those who prefer a dark, not very resistant sound and with a certain brightness.

Florence was the first model manufactured by CG Mouthpiece Italy. A little bit darker than the Rome model, it was designed for saxophonists who want a powerful, very projective and not excessively bright sound. Its step baffle of average length, about one third of the window, is shared by both types of chambers available for this model. As a matter of fact, the Florence model is available in the medium chamber and big chamber versions. The first one is characterized by easier sound emission (smaller volume of the chamber, less concave window walls) and a very centred and compact sound; the second one by greater body and deeper sound (real big chamber, concave window walls), particularly detectable in the medium-low and low register of the instrument.

The Infinito model for tenor saxophone is the darkest of CG Mouthpiece Italy mouthpieces. It was designed with the intention of creating a dark model with a great projection. For a dark mouthpiece, the Infinito model has a very rich timber, not dull at all. Without a baffle – except a light and almost undetectable roll-over baffle on the tip – it has a medium chamber that provides the sound with great focus. The chamber was designed in order to provide the sound depth of a big chamber, while maintaining the typical projection and focus of a medium chamber. The window walls are slightly concave and seamlessly flow into the medium chamber. The Infinito model was designed for saxophonists who look for a full and dark sound, characterized by excellent focus and timbre richness that provide this model with excellent features and an unusual character for a mouthpiece that can be classified as “dark”.

The Rome model was designed for those musicians who look for a clear and powerful sound with great projection. The transition of the step baffle into a really big chamber provides the Rome model with a bright and buzz-free timbre. The internal walls of the window become concave halfway through it, virtually enlarging the following big chamber. Designed for the saxophonist who wants to approach the most modern musical genres and needs to stand out easily among the other instruments. The harmonic frequencies, achieved thanks to the high beak, help saxophonists make their sound stand out also within crowded sound contexts (amplified instruments, great sound pressure). The bronze we selected proved to be a great choice, because the research for timbre brightness did not jeopardize the sound body, which is still powerful and full in all the registers of the saxophone.

The Syracuse model for alto saxophone was designed bearing in mind the warm and full sound that is
typical of vintage mouthpieces. It reminds the brightness of old Meyer Bros NY, with the addition of
the typical projection of modern mouthpieces. Its roll-over baffle is not excessively high, designed to
provide excellent projection without exceeding in brightness, thus maintaining the warm sound that is
typical of the best ebonite mouthpieces. The Syracuse model for alto saxophone is available in two
types: small chamber and medium chamber. They feature the same baffle, but the first one has flat
window walls flowing into a small chamber, whereas the second one has slightly concave window walls
flowing into a medium chamber. Although their timbre characteristics are very similar, the small
chamber model is characterized by a smaller resistance – thus easier emission – and a tone colour
slightly lighter and projected with respect to the medium chamber, which features a deeper tone that is
typical of darker mouthpieces with lower projection. The high quality of ebonite ensures both models
have a rich and harmonically complex sound, suitable for sessions as well as solos.
Both models, S and M, if appropriately used by the player, have unparalleled sound power for an
ebonite mouthpiece. The Syracuse model for alto saxophone was designed for musicians who love
bright timber, standing out for its easy emission and control.

The Syracuse model was designed for musicians who look for a traditional, warm and full sound as well
as timbre homogeneity and great projection. Its short roll-over baffle, flowing into a medium-large
chamber, provides the Syracuse model with a full, not excessively dark timbre. The window walls are
concave in order to ensure an obvious timbre depth in all registers. The shank is made of bronze, the
same material used in our metal mouthpieces, and plated with 24-carat gold. The Syracuse model is
available in both ebonite and hard rubber. The composition of the latter includes a higher percentage of
natural rubber, providing the mouthpiece with different harmonic features from ebonite, which are
surely more complex. The Syracuse model is recommended for those who prefer a dark sound but still
holding a certain brightness, as well as a good balance between resistance and sound projection.

The Turin model was designed for saxophonists who look for a traditional, typical 1940s-1950s sound, as well as timbre homogeneity in all the registers of the instrument and great projection. The transition of the long low beak into a large chamber - bullet cut – provides the Turin model with a full and dark timbre, maintaining an excellent sound focus. The window walls are initially flat to concentrate air in the starting phase and become gradually concave halfway through the window, anticipating the size of the chamber that – thanks to the bullet-cut shape – has an even larger volume. The Turin model is characterized by great projection and a moderately dark timbre – thanks to the long and not too low beak, with a fat and deep sound, thanks to the bullet-cut shape and gradually concave walls towards a large chamber. Recommended also for hard-bop lovers and anyone who prefers a similar sound to hard rubber but with the typical projection and focus of a metal mouthpiece.

The Venice model was designed for musicians who look for a similar sound to hard rubber, but with typical projection and focus of metal mouthpieces. The transition of the long step baffle into a large chamber provides the Venice model with a full and not too dark timber, maintaining excellent sound focus. The timbre depth of the Venice model is also achieved thanks to the internal window walls, which become concave halfway through it, anticipating the size of the big chamber. A little brighter than the Turin model, it is perfect in contexts where this timbre characteristics can help stand out in big bands or medium bands with several wind instruments.

The Rome model was designed for those musicians who look for a clear and bright sound with great projection. The transition of the step baffle into a medium-small chamber provides the Rome model with a bright and powerful timbre. The internal walls of the window are perpendicular to the beak and flat, so that they provide the air directed to the medium-small oval chamber with speed. Designed for the saxophonist who wants to approach the most modern musical genres and needs to stand out easily among the other instruments. The Venice model was designed for those who look for a sound – and convenience – that is similar to ebonite mouthpieces but with the typical projection and focus of a metal mouthpiece. In its design and prototyping, we were guided by the idea of creating a mouthpiece for the alto saxophone player who wishes to approach the world of metals, thus looking for more volume, sound projection and timbre versatility, without renouncing control and easy emission that was ensured by ebonite. Its geometries do not differ from the typical ones of a quality standard beak (our timbre idea was inspired by Meyer Bros and OttoLink vintage). The Venice model for alto saxophone has a gently designed roll-over baffle in the first part of the short beak, the window walls are not concave and flow into a medium chamber. With this mouthpiece, easy emission and control combine with the typical characteristics of metal: greater volume, projection and versatility, making it perfect for those who want to leave ebonite without straying too much from their habits.
